summer break... my last summer break during my undergrad, and the only one i havent taken some sort of class during. i do have a work from home research analysis position (which is dreadfully boring to do alone, i wish it was in person so i could talk with my team as i work), but its only part time, i still have plenty of time for personal projects - crafts, cooking, reading...

i decided to get back into sewing clothes, and the main project ive been working on lately is a cosplay that started out as a wild vision and became even wilder as put the work in to make it real. medieval fashion research, a half dozen historical pattern books, machine and hand sewing, quilting, thread crochet lace, foam sculpting... when im done itll probably be worth its own post or page (note to self to decide where to host images). im enjoying working on it but definitely ready to be done, i've been picking at it since february and it still feels endless. my translation project has fallen a bit to the wayside in favor of that and organic chemistry review, since ill be taking a postgrad level ochem class in the fall and want to be a little prepared for it, but i really should carve out some time to get back to ie meguri soon.

i picked logh back up to watch while i work, and i've been listening to a lot of 90s-y2k tech house during work where i can't read subtitles. its a departure from my current music taste (heavy on industrial and noise), but its something i grew up listening to and it's been fun to revisit and appreciate as an adult. my dad had a handful of compilation cds of it, so i pulled those up on youtube and have been clicking on anything related that looks interesting. im particularly fond of the plastic city suburbia label. i've also been reading a lot more, ranging from classic literature to academic papers to random danmei. the former two arent particularly interesting to talk about here (or rather take more space than is convinient here to say anything interesting about them), and i've started noting down reviews for the latter to make a separate page of them later, so i think thats all i have to talk about at the moment. these posts will probably get longer as i get into the routine of it and set more up here, but for now ill keep it short and sweet.
